Bio: Bárbara Maçães Costa has a Diploma in Architecture from the University of Porto and a Master in Drawing from the University of Lisbon. She is a doctoral candidate and lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. Her teaching focuses on environmental aesthetics and cartography as a situated language. Her research troubles the ideal of architectural autonomy and elaborates a hypothesis of architecture as environmental apparatus. Broader interests include spatial justice, political ecology, socialist eco-feminism and housing rights in Southern Europe.
