BAS teacher Professor Deane Alan Simpson is involved in a presentation on Monday October 28th at 18:00 at DogA in Oslo as part of the Oslo Architecture Triennale. The event is a preview of a book called the "Atlas of Copenhagens" which looks critically at urban sustainability discourse in general, and Copenhagen's position within it.
Fredag 25. oktober, Auditoriet på Litteraturhuset, Østre Skostredet 5-7.
The primary focus of this conference is Air Urbanism, a novel area of architectural research that examines the relationship between air, architecture and urban space. The event will bring together an international group of architects, theorists and artists to analyze and discuss air as an essential architectural and urban feature from the post war period to the contemporary moment.
"BARCELONA URBAN_ABDUCTIONS - Fragments of Inquisitive architectural tachygraphy".
The book showcases excerpts of the artistic/architectural research work, performed by 27 BAS 3rd year students while in Barcelona on a study trip in September 2012. The activity is part of the 3rd year Urban Course and introduces quick, open-form, reflective architectural analogue drafting skills.
Professor DAV Thomas Wiesner has written the explanatory essay for the project, while the book has been compiled, edited and supervised by 3rd year teacher Cristian Stefanescu.
In June this year, representatives from BAS went to Warsaw to participate on the first international conference devoted to the oeuvre of Oskar Hansen (1922-2005), architect, artist and educator affiliated with the milieu of Team 10, which acquired seminal importance to post-war modernist architecture. The conference was organized by Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Read more.
