In September the two master students Dan Dorocic and Alaleh Navaii conducted a workshop in Shigang.
Bergen School of Architecture conducted a master course in Guangzhou in spring 2013 looking at scenarios for urban sustainable transformation in Poontong Cun in Liwan District and how to implement a migrant child care center and migrant cultural center in Shigang Cun in Panyu. These projects were done in collaboration with South China University of Technology and the Migrant Workers Documentation Center and resulted in inquiries regarding the place of the old in the modernization, the role of heritage and preservation and utilized ways of initiating sustainable solutions to the various levels of planning, with emphasize on how sustainable solutions can benefit the social structures of the urban fabric.
After exhibiting the final results of this work in the Agora exhibition in Guangzhou in September this year, supported by the Norwegian consular section in Guangzhou, the two master students Dan Dorocic and Alaleh Navaii conducted a workshop in Shigang to concretize their project proposals together with local architects and the local population. Both the Norwegian consular and a local newspaper has written articles about the workshop.
